SNAP Match & Food Assistance
Making fresh, local food affordable for every neighbor is at the heart of what we do. Here's every way to stretch your food budget at the market—clearly laid out and easy to reference.
We match your SNAP dollars—free
Buy SNAP tokens at the Info Tent with your EBT or SunBucks card and we'll match them up to $15, free, every single Saturday. Use your SNAP and match tokens and match for any SNAP-eligible food across the market.

+$15 free
When you buy SNAP tokens with your EBT balance, we add up to $15 in free Match tokens—once per card, per week. Spend your Match tokens evenly alongside your SNAP tokens.
How to get your match
- Visit the Info Tent when you arrive at the market.
- Buy SNAP tokens using the funds on your EBT or Summer-EBT card.
- We add up to $15 in free Match tokens—once per card, per week.
- Spend tokens with any vendor selling SNAP-eligible food.
Tokens never expire—bring unused tokens back any week and spend them later.
Have SNAP? You already have HIP.
The Healthy Incentive Program puts money back on your EBT card the moment you buy fruits and vegetables from our HIP farms. It's automatic—no signup required.

What is HIP?
The Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) is a Massachusetts program that applies state funds to your purchase when you use your EBT card to buy fruits and vegetables at participating farms. The monthly benefit is available in your EBT account automatically on the first of the month.
Do I need to sign up?
No. HIP is automatically included on your EBT card — there is nothing to enroll in.
How does it work?
Use your EBT card to buy fruits and vegetables from a HIP vendor. The amount you spend is immediately added back onto your EBT card, up to your monthly benefit.
Anything else to know?
You must have at least $0.01 in your SNAP account to use HIP and the HIP vendor must process the purchase on your EBT card, HIP is extra money on top of your regular monthly SNAP benefits, but it can only be used to purchase fruits and vegetables from certified HIP vendors at farmers markets, farm stands, mobile markets, and community supported agriculture (CSA) farm share programs.
Your monthly HIP benefit
- 1–2 people$40/mo
- 3–5 people$60/mo

Token refund policy
SNAP and Match tokens never expire, so there's no rush to spend them. If you do need a refund, here are the rules.
- 1Refunds are only made on the same day the tokens were purchased.
- 2A receipt is required for any refund.
- 3Refunds go back onto your EBT card only — no cash is given.
- 4If you received free plastic SNAP Match tokens, return the same amount of plastic tokens to get your refund.
- 5If you did not receive Match tokens (your receipt shows an “N”), just return your wooden SNAP tokens for a full refund.
Refunds go back onto your EBT card and are only issued the same day, with a receipt.
